Welcome to Monday! I hope you have had a wonderful and beautiful weekend as I did with my family. This weekend we had the great pleasure of having our Grand Girlies for a visit. Our sweet neighbors invited us to go to a strawberry farm to pick strawberies! So off we went to Brown Farms.
Our oldest grand girl, Julia (aka Lucy) took 10 minutes to fill her gallon size bucket.
Our youngest grand girl, Addison took to eating more strawberries than putting in her bucket. I was so thankful for my friend & neighbor Pam. Without Pam we would still be picking berries at Addison's pace.
The strawberries had my mind spinning towards a birthday card I needed this week for my cousin. Now how do I see paper in a strawberry? Well of course, Strawberry Slush by Stampin Up!.
I loved making this card with my cousin in mind. I come from a big ole' Irish family. My mother was one of thirteen children by my Grandmother. I remember every summer visiting my Grandparents in the Panhandle of Florida. Some of my favorite memories are with my cousins. That old saying, "Your cousins are your first friends" must have been following me around. I lost my mother many years ago, but the love I still receive from all of her brothers and sisters; not to mention ALL of my cousins is still a very strong bond.
Now I just couldn't talk about a card for my sweet readers. I included a great recipe on the strawberry daquairi. Each time I hulled these berries I have the most wonderful memory of the great smiles and laughter by my girls and Pam. Our weather on Sunday was a picture perfect 87 degree day. With so many wonderful strawberries we had to make ice cream and strawberry daquaries mind you. Now I left the rum off of the girl's drinks; but it was in mine!
Recipe Card for Fresh Strawberry Daquairies:
6 cups ice 1 cup fresh strawberries 1/2 cup of super fine sugar 1/8 cup lime juice 1/2 cup lemon juice 3/4 cup rum 1/4 cup lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage (I used glass bottle sprite) In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
Come on by again tomorrow. It's birthday week here at the Gray House. You can count on birthday cards all week. It's my son's birthday, my sweet cousin Monica's birthday and quite a few male friends birthdays. Sure must have been some "hot" August years in a row for so many May birthdays!
Happy Cookin' & Stampin'
